LAST NIGHT'S NEWS. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.] (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Cabinet Meeting.— Change in Native Policy. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Cabinet to-day, an important decision, involving 1 a fresh de* parture in Native policy, was decided upon, viz., to begin immediately to survey the whole of the Parihaka Block, excepting Native reserves recommended by Royal Commission The land is to be surveyed in strips along the sea board, and be placed in the murket as soon as possible. The survey of the Waimata Plains is no»v finished, and the second block will be sold immediately, as the present is considered an excellent opportunity to survey the land opposite Parihaka, and settle it. If the natives interfere they will receive a sharp and decisive lesson, which will prevent any danger of repetition. The natives only put up one fence at Parihaka to-day, and on the Constabulary pulling it down it was instantly re-erected by native children. There is no truth in the report that Mr Curtis is to be called to the Council vice Sir F. Dillon Bell, or that the object of the latter's appointment is to arrange a new loan in 18S2. No such course is contemplated, nor was it even broached in the Cabinet.

G-reytown, Last Night. Tammevwide's Rising Sun Hotel has been burned down. It was insured for £2000 in British offices and £500 in Colonial.
