LAST NIGHT'S NEWS. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH]. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Fire at New Plymouth. New Plymouth, Last Night.
Lvst night ;i five occurred by which Mrs Halsc's house was completely gutted. The fire originated in the kitchen, but before the alarm was given it had communicated with the drawing-room and also a small bedroom. The drawing-room soon caught, but notwithstanding the paper and the ceiling of the rooms being all on five, by the activity of those assisting, led on by Inspector Bullen, the flames were beaten out, leaving the shell of the wooden house standing. The scene was most exciting. The furniture was much damaged and the property was uninsured.
