CRICKET.

A chicket match was played between Tanpiri and Hokonui on Saturday last, in Mr Primrose's paddock, which resulted in an easy victory for the former with one innings and four runs to spare. About a hundred spectators were present, amrn<2>t whom were a. few ladies. Ellison bowled well for the Hokonui team, taking six wickets. Soper, Dickson, and Ralph played well for Taupiri, Soper making 18 in a very short time; his bowling was also very good. A scratch match was <?ot up in the evening, in which Mr Field, who acted us umpire for the Hokonui Cricket Cub, made 39, not out. Abundance of refreshments were provided, and all seemed well pleased with the day's sport. The following are the scores :—: —
