There w.is spirited bidding throughout the sale, and nearly all yarded sold. — At Okete Yards, Raglan, on the inth, there was a large number of cattle yarded There was ready sale for nil offered, and, with one or two exceptions, all sold at fully Ohaupo prices. — At ' OhaaptoTOJfthft 22nd, the 3».nrd* were well filled, nearly 500 head being penned. There was good competition throughout the 'sale, especially for beef and grown steers. A large number of plough horses have sold diiring the month at prices varying from Ll3 to JL26. We quote dairy cows Lo to L 7 10s ; ;ear'lings, from L 3 to L 3 12s 6a; calves, L 2 1$ to L 2 10s; two-jvar-old bteers, L 4 7s 6d to L 5 ss : three-year-old steers, L 5 15s to L 7; store cows, L 4 to L 4 17s 6d; two-year-old heifer*, L^toLpv-i; fat bullocks and steers, L 7 to L 9 1 2s 6d ; cows, L 6 to L8 19s ; fat shorn sheep, 13s 6d. AUCKLAND Ci/ITTI.K MARKET.— Mr. Alfred Buckland's Weekly-Report.— At the Haymarket, on Friday, oats were sold at 2s 2d and 2s 3d. Maize in quantity, at 2s 8d to 2s tod the bushel. Potatoes, 21 s to 35s the, ton. A second-hand hooded buggy, £21 ; activp horses, suitable for harness, £17 to £10 ', medium draught, to £35 ; hacks. £q to £15 each.— At the Haymarket, on Tuesday, hides were slightly better worth, and brought from 3i4 to^d the Ib. ; tallow, 21s 6d the cwt! Sheepskin's were '.offered in fully usual numbers. Best woollcdj brought from 4s iod to 6f id each j locks, 2jd; greasy wool, 7?d to Bjd the Jb. — At Papakuia, on Wednesday, the yards were filled with store cattle of a good class. Buyers for all description of cattle were present, and the whole were .sold at satisfactory prices. — At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were fairly numerous, but the greater number inferior, either from age or ill-bred. The few good animals were eagerly, computed for, and all met with a good demand. Store cnttle were more numerous than usual. Well-bred heifers in good demand, but other descriptions dull of vile. Fat cattle in average supply; 125 head sold ; light weights, provincial tatted, were steady, at from 27s to 29s ; ship-borne, from 22s to 2(s the toolbs. Fat sheep, in fair supply, met with a steady sale, at from 2?d to %d the lb. Lambs, short of requirements, and at .higher values, brought from 12s to 18* each. A number of pigs from the coast, medium weight and course quality, sold better than usual. Fat calves were plentiful, but maintained their values.
Mkssrs Huxtkr and Nolans "Weekly Rkport. — Horses — The improvement noted last week has continued, and more than the usual number has changed hand'!. On Friday an increased. r number was submitted by auction, and competition was' more spirited than on the previous week, consequently nearly all entered were disposed of at prices .showing 1 a slight upward tendency. We quote hacks from £6 15s to £17 ; light-harness horses, £t$ to £w, medium draught, £22 to £3s. Cattle.— The supply has been good of nearly all descriptions. A stcadv demand has existed, but vendors who expected higher rates were disappointed. Hoth-it Newmarket and "Waiuku on .Wednesday there were a I.irge muster of dairy and store stuck, which were disposed of at rates currant for the lastH fortnight, a few pens at the latter place being held over fpt higher values, which purchasers refused to' give. There has been a jrood muster of Fat beasts, and some of them, locally fed, were in prime condition, and. were well competed lor ; out there was little alteration in value, nor was there any noteworthy change in the value of descriptions. •Sh.eqp.— ;Tnere was an increased supply, and copetition mt.is not quite so keen as on the previous week. Best wethers, in wool, from 20s ()d to .275,; inferior, from 15s and ad togs; shorn sheep, , from. 1 to 15s od.
