THE TE AROHA GOLDFIELD.

Any facts concerning the alleged gold discovery at To Aroha will be of much interest to our readers. The reported finds have been made on the Native reserve on the Te Aroha Block, which is i the property of the Government, the natives having, it is alleged, selected the reserve on account of its supposed auriferous character. The ground was first prospected by a native named "Johnny," one of "the original prospectors of the Long Drive in 1877, but at that time he was driven away by the native owners of the land, he not being of their hapit. A short time ago, however, he was ullowed to return. He states that ho has discovered a reef, but declines to furnish any information regarding its whereabouts. Altogether, five claims have bceu pegged out, their position being indicated by the following diagram, which we copy from the Thames SUn\ by whom it was compiled from information received from the native above referred to :—: —
