AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS FOR 1880. (Country Journal.)

The following tables have been compiled from the Government Agricultural Statistical Retnrns for the Colony, and show the returns for the several Provincial districts. The Government returns were collected in Februrary of this year, and it is gratifying to know that the actual result?, as revealed by the threshing floor, in most instances far exceed the estimates published. The reverse proved to be the case last year (1879), and the difference is actually greater than represented by the figures given. The past harvest has been one of the finest ever experienced in this Colony, and a law more of such would go far to restore both the confidence and the credit, which has been somewhat shaken by the recent severe depression, which we in common with other countries have experienced :—: —
