THE NATIONAL HOTEL, CAMBRIDGE.
We have been shown the plans for the A'ory extensive addition about to be erected to Rayues 1 National Hotel. It will be erected at the eastern end of the present buildinsr, of which it will be a continuation. The frontage will be 16 feet, with a depth of 30 feet. The lower floor will be divided into three shops, each having a frontage of 1 1 ieet, and extending back 20 feet, with rooms connpeted in the rear. There w»H aKo be a private entrance to the hotel communicating with the upper floor by moans of a handsome staircase. The upper floor will contain two parlours, eight bed-rooms and a private bar, consisting with the other portion of the hotel, and haying a balcony uni'orm with it. The present building will be entirely renovated, and provision made downstairs for commercial and extra hitting rooms. When fchenew arrangements are complete, which it is expected will bo about Christmas, the hotel will have sleeping accommodation for 51 people without shakedowns. The improvements are made in view of the growing business which the increase of travelling facilities is likely to afford during the approaching summer. The plans may be seen at bhe hotel up to the 22nd inst., and at the office of the architect, Mr James Wrigler, Auckland, from that date to the 26th inst., upon which day tenders for the work will be received.
