HARAPEPE.
For some reason, nob very easy to understand, the town acres in the township of Harapepe, were withdrawn from the Government land sale (perhaps they discovered that they had made a mistake in putting 1 such a ridiculous upset price on them, at £30 per acre.) Not that there was the slightest chance of anybody being fool enough to invest in them at any price, as they would be dear at a gift, if you hud to pay thec<>Btof the crown grant. It was a great mistake having a township laid out, in such an out of the way spot, leading from nothing te nowhere. The town at present, consists of an old Blockhouse and two private houses, overlooking a wilderness of furze and fern, population last census 3, of coarse I mean the town. "We have not had a religious service over hero for Home months, and I hear that the Rev. Mr Bruce on account of bad health will not be able to come over in future. Up to the present, there is no sign of anything baing done in the way of beginning the Te Eore bridge. Since writing the above, I have heard that the JRev. Mr Bruce will be over here on Sunday next, 26th. — (Own Correspondent, Sep. 20.
