THE RAILWAY TIME-TABLE. TO THE EDITOR.
Snt,-l~Ait the OJvatfpo sale the other day, T noticed a correspondent of one ©f the papers very busy talking of the injustice to the up-country settlors of the present time-table, and suggesting that public meetings should be called to lay the matter i before the Postal and Railway officials. In referring" to the matter on my way home, a J brother settler threw a little light upon the subject, remarking that such apparently disinterested . solicitude has generally afofctive for self 'at tjhe bottom. ' ' Don't you see the present time-table suits the Star. Their paper now reaches its destination on the day of issue ; the previous time-table made it a day old when it arrived." My friend also pointed out that to carry the suggestion into effect of sending forward the Ngaruawahia train with the mails, meant that passengers had either to Btart at 6 o'clock from Auckland, or, remain a night in Hamilton or Ohaupo, as the case might be, unless as is hardly likely a double line of coaches were started. — Yours, &c, T.P.R.
