The British Troops Ordered to Attack at Once. Calcutta, September 2.
Calcutta, September Further intelligence has been received fvom Kandahar regarding the negotiations which were commenced between Ayoub Khan and General Roberts. The former wrote a letter in an apologetic tone, saying that he had been forced into hostilities with the British. General Eoberts replied demanding the surrender of all prisoners, and the unconditional submission of Ayoub. These terms he would not accept. Ayoub is now entrenched at Umsayah and has partly forced on hostilities with our troops. Roberts attacks them at once. Colonel Maclure, one of the prisoners taken by Ayoub in the attack on Burrows, has communicated that he and the other prisoners were well treated.
