ENTERTAINMENT AT CAMBRIDGE.

A literary and musical entertainment in aid of the Trinity Ohurcli (Presbyterian) Sunday School took place on Wednesday evening, in the Public Hall. There was a very fair atfcencUmee^-ancl the chair was OCCUpiod by tin pastor of the Churchy the Rev. W. Evans. The programme was a long, a varied, and speaking generally an admirable one to boot. All the lady and gentlemen amateurs entered with spirit into the performance of their several tasks, and although, as is natural enough, there was much difference in point of merit, the audience were pleased with all alike. Without attempting anything like criticism, we will ran over the names of half-a-dozan of the pieces which gave us and we doubt not the audience the greater pleasure. These were " Robin Adair 1 ' by Mrs Fergusson ; "When sparrows build by Mrs Mackintosh ; " Beautiful Star"' by Mrs Recce ami the spirited little song " Five o'clock in the morning" by Miss Bright. Messrs Evans, Brooks, Moore, Cricket, Hedgecock and Goodfellow also contributed in solos, trios and choruses very much towards the success of the entertainment. Mrs Chitty and Miss E. Young also rendered valuable assistance on the pianoforte, in the accompaniments. The Jirst named lady also played a spirited overture to the first part. Encores were freely accorded, indeed if anything the audience erred on the side of being over demonstrative. The entertainment was brought to a close with the eccentric performances of tho " Turkish Dwarf, Mukta Pasha" already well known and appreciated in Cambridge, where he has apparently taken up his place of abode. This portion of the entertainment was cleverly performed, and caused much merriment.
