A large number of Town and suburban lots in different parts of the district will be offered for sale at the Lands Office on the 16th inst. • The contractors on the Raglan and Waipa road, "the debateable ground " between Ngaruawahia and Whatawhata, have great cause for complaint. Their jobs are all but finished, and as yet they have been unable to get any payments on account of their work, although holding certificates from the Engineer. It must be due to the dispute as to which Board is legally elected that the Government are keeping back the £1200 grant. For the sake of the contractors and the business people who have been supplying them, it would be well to see the matter settled, so that innocent people should not be the greatest suffeiers as appears to be the case here.

It is contemplated to hold a grand review in Auckland on the Pnnue of "Wales Birthday, in conjunction with the Thames and Waikato Volunteers, and to ensure the success of the undertaking 1 circulars have been issued calling a parade of the whole of the Auckland Rifle Battalion to take info consideration the best means of carrying out the review. It i8 to be hoped that the Hamilton Light Infantry Corps will be able to take part, and every effort ought to be made by the officei-s to procure the long-looked for uniform, as it is pretty freely expressed by the men that if something is no 1 ; done soon the corps will fall through. Surely the Government might stretch a point and see that this ooi-pg, which has be?n in existence for more than 12 months, be provided with the necessary outfit.
It seemed impossible that a photographer could have hit upon any novelty, but Mr. Samuel Walker of 230 Regentstreet has accomplished the feat. His sitters do not come to him, but arc taken 'at home,' in their own house, which is an obvious saving of trouble and an advantage in many ways. The specimens which I have seen of Mr. Irving, Miss Ellen Terry, Mr. Robert Browning, &c, are very creditable, and have a good deal of the quality of engraving about them. — Atlas,
