Ayoub Khan Retreating.
Calcutta, August 27. , According to the latest news from Kandahar, Ayowb Khan has withdrawn his force to a position eight miles to the Westward of the citadel, and thus virtually raised the seige. It is believed this is due to General Roberts' advance towards Kan. dahar.
London, August 27. It is announced that no information has reached the Government regarding the report published by the Standard of defections from Abdurrahman's troops to the ranks of Yakoub Khan.
Calcutta, Augusq. 27. It now transpires that the news received to-day regarding the munity among the troops of the Knan of Khelat is greatly exaggerated.
London, August 27. A report is current at Plymouth to-day that the troopship Serapis is to be fitted up to convey the Prince and Princess of Wales to Melbourne, and that a detached squadron and the Bacchante will accompany their Royal Highnesses.
