Ai'(KrvM> Cm in M*kk«i. — Mr Alfred Auckland's "Weekly Report:— On Friday last, at the Haymarkef, fodder was offered at lower values Oats w.is from 2> to 2s^d ; b.itlcy, 2s <sd; maue 3s 5s the bushel. \cry few horses brought forward/ Good animals weic in brisk inquiry, and buyers unsatisfied. At the sale on Tuesday, hides and skins weie in full supply, and steady demand throughout the sale. Hide brought from 2d to j'o-i6dthc Ib. ; tallow 21s the cwt. ; fullwoclled sheepskins from 3s lod to 5s 6d each. At the Pokeno cattle sale, on Monday, there was .1 good muster of useful young stock, and steady competition. At Drury, on "Wednesday, the cattle 3'iirded were principally cons, and consequently blow of sale, and a few unsold, but young cattle sold freely. At the Rcmuern on Thursday, dairy cows were at lower values, and several were withdrawn. Store cattle in steady demand .it late values. Fat cattle in average number j 130 head yarded, mostly of good quality. Consequence on the absence of shipping prices advanced and ranged with quality from 33s to 38s, averaging 35s the ioolbs., and prices were highest at the conclusion of the sale. Sheep were from the same cause short of requirements, and man}' of indifferent quality ; those were at low prices, but fairly fatted sheep were in brisk demand at 43d the lb. ; good wethers brought from 2\s to 30s CaLCli Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.— Horses.— The supply has been good, and the demand has shown a decided improvement. At the Durham Yards on Friday,, over an a\erage number were entered ; competition was steady, and almost without exception, lots were cleared, although there was somcdifficnlty in consequence of one or two animals refusing to take their trials. We quote: Hacks, fiom £6 15s to £17; light harness horses. £14 to £35; medium draught £21 to £30. Hides andSkins— OnTucsday the demand was brisk, but the hides were unusually light weight, and the highest figure was 3 {d. Skins were well competed tor, and sold at 2s 3d to 4s 6d. Cattle —The market has been characterised by great animation, and a marked adumcc in butchers' stock. The Newmarket Yards were well filled, and competition was keen throughout the sale, and prices had an upward tendency for f.it and store stock ; but the dairy cows >arded were not first-class, nor were they eagerly sought after, and some remained undisposed of. We quote : IJcef, 30s to 35s per ioolbs. A small draft et cattle, ex Glenelg, obtained an average of 1$ guineas. There was no noteworthy alteration in prices of dairy and store stock. .Sheep— The supply was very good at Newmarket on Tuesday, but there existed an active demand and prices were fully sustained for hit .sheep. A small flock of ewes and lambs sold at 18s each Pigs were in limited supply, and advanced slightly in value.
Potatoes: Local, £3 to £3 iosper ton; Canterbury, £\ to ss, bag> included.
Kerosene from is iod to 2s, ordinary brands' .and 3s duty paid, the latter in i gallon tins. Woolpacks in quantity, 3s 3d to 3s 6d each ; Cornsacks, 8s te qs 6d per dozen. Fencing wire, Nos. 6, 7, and 8, assorted, Ll6 to £17 per ton.
