London, August 19. Ixstto House of Commons the Employers Mbility Bill has been passed. Mr. W. E. Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, has started suddenly for Ireland. His mission, however, at present is unknown. A report was curitnt to-day that two barrels of gunpowder had been found in the railway tunnel under the Cork barracks, but inquiry proved the whole thing to be a hoax.
Calcutta, August 18. News has just come to hand that the citadel at Kandahar is invested on three sides by Ayoub Kliau's army.
Evacuation of Kabul. Calcutta, August 18. General Stewart reports that he has reached Gundamak with the British force which was left at Kabul, after General Roberta's departure for Kandahar, and the* evacuation of Kabul is now completed.
The Wool Sales. London, August 17The wool sales opened with prices at from J to ltl lower than last sales. Londox, August 18. At the wool sales to-day 10,600 bales were offered, making a total of 17,300 bales. .Since the opening, the tone of the market has shown a better demand, and prices were firmly maintained.
Agrarian Outrages. The Agrarian outrages which have recently been occurring in Ireland, following upon an eviction of tenants for nonpayment of rent, have excited serious uneasiness. Representations have been made to the Government that disturbances are likely to follow upon the rejection of the Tenants Compensation Bill in the House of Lords, and for tho protection of life and property additional forces, viz., 1,000 marine?, have been ordered to Ireland.
The "Times" Eulogises the Hall Government. The Times in referring to New Zealand, comments on the straightforward action of tha present Ministry, and contrasts it with the previous extravagant financial policy.
Royal Meeting. Prince Charles, of Koumelia, and Prince Milan, of Scrvia, have met Emperors of Germany and Austria at Ischl.
The Fasting Doctor. Dr Tanner's recovery- is exciting more interest now it is certain that the extraordinary fast was genuine There was an enormous amount of betting on the event. The instant the fast was concluded Dr Tanner had a repast cf peaches melons, beef t.teak, and milk, and he has eaten voracioi sly since.,
