Further Particulars. Dunedin, Last night.
The outrage at Kyeburn seems to have been committed early on Wednesday morning. The door of the house had been burst open by large stones, and knocked off the hinges. Three ' stones were found inside the house from 30lbs. to GQlbs. weight two of them covered with blood. A Chinaman, Who was occasionally employed by the deceived was the first to give the alarm. Deceased ajjpears to have been able to speak at this time, and asked him to go for assistance. On the neighbour- arriving, she was allied who did it, whether Chinamen or Europeans, and she led them to understand it waa a Chinaman, but at this time it is uncertain whether she was conscious or not. A messenger was sent to Naseby for medical aid, and Sergeant Moran, accompanied by | a constable and Dr. Whitton, immediately | left for the scene. The house was found to have been ran -sacked, and deceased in her night-dress was lying on a mattrass on the floor. She had been lifted from her bed. A berions wound was discovered on the left side of the head, Beveral ribs were smashed, and the collar-bone broken. A hay for* was found near the hou^e. ISO money or valuables appear to have been taken. Over £1000 in deposit receipts aud £10 in cash weie discovered. The object of the murder was evidently plunder, and although all likely places were turned out. they ini&sed it, m it was kept in a place in the kitchen known only to the decea&ed. Mrs Young died from the injuries received about 1. 30 p. m. yesterday. She was universally respected, and was kind and obliging. .She contemplated retnrnhi-rto Scotland soon.
