POTATO GULTURE.
. r- 1^Thk following is the result of some experiments made by Captain Runciinau in potato culture at Marsh Meadows last season. Equal quantities of manure were used, hence the price was different. The best crop was produced by Hurst's potato manure, giving nearly a third more than the others. It is but fair to state that the soil upon which the crop was grown was quite-new, having only been broken up the previous year and put into oats, Which, crop was very poor.. Nor is the land naturally good, but it was the only piece available at the time, having been fenced in for a plantation, to which use it has since been turned. As the potatoplanting season is approaching, the results may greatly assist farmers in arrivingat a decision as to what manures shall be adopted. They are as follow :—: — W. J. Hurst antl Co.'s potato manure, 561b5., value 7s 6d, on one-tenth of an acre, yielded 15821b5. of potatoes ; Crans potato manure, 561b5., 7s, one-tenth of an acre, 9861b5.; Mexican guano, 561b5., 3a 6d, one-tenth of an acre, 10251b5.; half fine bone and half Mexican guano, 561b5., 4s 9d, one-tenth of an acre, 10301bs.; Long Island guano, 561b5., 3s, one-tenth of an acre, 8441b5.; fine bonedust, 561b5., os 6d, one-tenth of an acre, 1190lbs.j nothing, one-tenth of an acre, 6801bs.
