The Sparrow Nuisance.
A public meeting was held in the County Council Chambers, on Saturday, re the sparrow and small bird nuisance. Mr Peglar was voted to the chair, and briefly spoke on the great loss and destruction by this pest, and requested the views of the meeting assembled.*' Mr W. P. Cogswell proposed " That a public meeting be held at the same place, in furtherance of this object, on the 31st inst., at 12 o'clock noon." — The proposition was seconded by Mr W. Robertson and carried. Mr W. Powell proposed "That the Secretary request the united action of the District Road Boards and their co-opera-tion to help in abating what is now becoming a national nuisance." — Seconded by Mr John Moon, and carried. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
