TAOTAOROA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
Annual Meeting of Ratepayers. The annual meeting of the ratepayers of the Taotaovod Highway District was held on Saturday last, the 17th instant. Ten ratepayers were present. Mr K. H. D. Fergusson, Chairman of tVe Board, presided, and read the advertisement convening the meeting, and Mr Cudwort was voted to the chair. The Clerk read the balance-sheet, which showed the receipts to be made up as follows : — Piako County subsidy, -£52 5s 5d ; Waikato County subsidy, £'25 ; Government subsidies, £185 los £d ; sale of firewood, £14 14s 7d ; and rates collected, £123 2s lid ; balance at bank, Ist July, 1879, £67 15s 2d. The expenditure was as follows : — Bridges and and culverts, £3 Os lOd ; forming road, £82 8s ; gravelling, £233 13s ; repairs, £2!); draining, 18. surveying, &c, £7 Js; pipes, £16 17s 6d ; timber, posts, and rails, £7 1 8s 8d ; .stationery, stamps, &c., £2 4s Id; advertising £11 12s 6d ; valuation fee, £2 2s ; salaries, £12 os (id ; miscellaneous, £!) lls Sd ; and balance at the credit of the Board, £lo 19s. The balanc "i-sheet was adopted. Mr Brunskill proposed that the new Board consist ol ; — Messrs E. Maclean, R. H. D. Fergnisaon, Thomas No.iis, U. Kllis, and W. Brunskill. Mr Norris seconded the motion, which was carried. Messrs Thomas Bruce, junior, and J. Forrest were appointed as auditors for the ensuining year. Messrs Hally and H. Brunskill were appointed as fenceviewers. Mr Bruce opened a discussion about erecting a scboolhouse in the district, and Mr Fergusson promised, on behalf of the new Board, that the matter should be duly considered. The meeting then terminated.
Board Meeting. A meeting of the Board was held immediately afterwards, and Mr R. H. D. JVrgusson was elected chairman.
