Upon the House resuming, Sir George tfrey gaid tliat the Maori frwwww ftli
violated every principle of the law, inflicting injuries upon people, the majority of whom were innocent. A very stormy debate ensued, during which the Speaker vacated the chair for half an hour, and on resuming it Sir George briefly protested against the Bill. He was followed by Mohi Tawhia, who also spoke in the same strain, and was still speaking when our telegrams were sent.
