TAMAHERE HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
Annual Meeting of Ratepayers. Tele animal meeting' of the ratepayers of the Tamahere District was held yesterday afternoon. About twelve ratepayers were present. Mr H. Reynolds, Chairman of the Board, presided, and read the advertisement convening the meeting, and Mr Rhodes was voted to the chair. The Clerk read the balance-sheet, which showed the receipts to be made up as follows : — County subsidy, £150 ; deposit on contracts, £4 13s; Government subsidy, £206 2s ; miscellaneous, £54 4s ; rates collected, £242 2s 8d ; Government grants for roads, £290. The expenditure was as follows: — Bridges and culverts, £68 Is; balance due at Bank on Ist July, 1879, £87 16s 9d; books and stationery, 3s 4d; commission and rates, £12 0s 6d ; deposits on contracts, £3 ; miscellaneous, £432 17s 2d; printing and advertising, £9 18s; roads, £216 12s lOd; salaries, £15 ; surveying, £6— leaving a balance of £5 8s to the credit of the Board. The fiance-sheet was adopted. Mr Leslie afkd, as Mr Douglas had declined to stand for re-election, he begged to propose that the old Board be elected, with Mr A. T. Wheeler in the place of Mr Douglas. After some discussion this was agreed to, the following- boing declared duly elected :— Messrs P. Leßlie, C. C. Wood, James Runciman, H. Reynolds, and A. T. W heeler. Messrs B. Wood and E. Rhodes were elected Auditors, and Messrs Seymour and Thomas Reynolds were eleoted Fence- viewers. The meeting then terminated. BOARD MEETING.
