[Our < orrcspomlcnce rolumni arc impartially open to all, but am- do not in any w.iy identify oursches with opinions expressed therein.]
TO TIT E EDITOR. Sir, — I was rather astonished at Mr ,T. K. McDonalds letter in your issue of Tuesday last, in which he complains that he was induced to sign the ;vbove petition on the understanding it was for the purpose of getting the cattle restrictions taken off this district. Now, sir, if Mr McDonald reflects for a wee, he will remember that thid had been (tone at least a month before this petition was brought before the public ; this being the case, is it at all likely that such a shrewd man as Mr McDonald could have been so misled ? However, to exonerate myself, and those who held the duplicate petition for signature, I most firmly assert that I distinctly stated when I handed him the document to peruse before signing it, that it was for the purpose of getting the present inspectors removed in consequence of the action they thought proper to adopt.— Your,, ft*, R B iUwN
