THOUGHTS.
I think Johnny Sheehan was pretty rough on the "rats," at the Th-mes on Saturday, excepting only Willie Swanson, whom he lets down as easily as possible, though I reallly cannot see why. I think it a splendid idea to heep the blame of all things which have gone wrong, nn "foimer Governments." It is such an easy way of throwing the responsibility overboard. The next Government will do just the same thing.
I think the new method of entering County Council Chambers, initiated by Tommy Sandes, is not likely to be perpetuated. I see he is still at liberty. Where is the " mighty Buttle," so puffed out with his importance as County Chairman, where the " folio w-me leader" Reynolds, the " blatant Sam Steele," and the " cantankerous Germann, 1 ' that they allow such a terrible character to roam at large ? Councillors do your duty to the public !
I think the best advertisement in the Waikato Times is to be seen at the head of the second column, outside sheet, it runs' "Support local industry, I. Vialou & Co." The principle is so good, and V acts up to it you know on all occasions, especially where drain pipes are concerned. I see that V has his footpath filled in as also his allotment. I wonder when he inttnds to pay for it. I am afraid that the "Borough seal"will be worne out stamping the receipts he gets. Better let the matter go to square up with poor Frank, whose furniture the Council would not pay for.
I think the currant rate at McGrarrigle's is about Bsd per lb., and his raisins for writing the financial statement are his desire to save the Borough from utter ruin. I think his letters were written by the light of " Price's best stearine candles."
I think some of the Romances appearing in an Auckland paper just now, headed " Waikato District News," are amongst the best things of the day.
I think Toles argument re Ccrvupfc Practices Bill in the House pretty rich. He wants to be allowed to hire cabs (which is not lawful) becaude at the last election some of his opponents drove to the poll in private oarriages. He says he represents the " mo*t aristooratic constituency in New Zealand." I think it is wonderful in this world how often people eret completely out of their own clement.
I thought secrecy on " Native Affairs " was to be at an end ; but our friend Bryce, " who would resign if ho could not make gieat reductions, etc.," in the Department, does not intend te make any regular statement, only to give explanations. I think all this very funny, but I suppose we mast patiently wait and watch.
I think Sir Julius Vogel has got a good deal of the bull -dog iv his composition. Can't he hold on when there is money in it? He will resign neither the Agent - Generalship nor the Land Company, although ordered to do so. And I think we have to pay for all this. Thinker.
