Bidding was spirited, and cattle of all classes realised fair v.ilues. 96 were yarded, 16 head reserved, and So head sold at the following prices ;— Calves, £2 to £2 15s ; yearling-*, to fifteen months old, £3 to £3 17s 6d"; grow n steers, £t, is-, to £6 $-. : dairy cows, in milk or close to cal\ ing, £(■> 2s 6d to£Bsa; empty rows, £\ toj£i 15s; tat cows, £5 S s to £7 7s7 s 6a * 5 lt sttH ' rs > £7 to £& los each. One pen of fat sheep, mixed sexes, brought 12s *d, and 75 store wethers ios each. AvcKLAxn Cvrrih M vrkkt. — Mr Alfied Buckland's Weekly Report :— At the Haymarkct, on Friday last, hay and straw were at late \ allies, best qualiity bringing from 4s to qs per cwt. Chaff is being pushed on the market, and in many cases sold at low values. Oats brought 2s }d ; maize, 4s ; barley, 2s and 2s 6d ; Poverty Ray ryegrass, 3s 6d ; cocksfoot, 3s 6d per bushel. Horse stock were in useful number, and fair inquiry- A first-class heavy draught brought L4O ; medium draught and plough horses, from Lq to Ll5 ios each. At the usual monthly sale at Waiuku, there was a larger number of cattle yarded than usual, the whole of which found ready buyers. At Pukekohe, on Monday, there was also a full muster of catjle, with a good inquiry, all yarded being sold. Prices were— Dairy cows, L 7 ios to Lgs 5s ; two-year-old steers, L 5 <;s to L 6; yearlings, L 3 to L 3 10s ; dry cows and heifers, L 3 to Lj i^s: fat cattle, 26s per loolbs. At the usual hide and skin sale on Tuesday, a larger number than average were pitched. Hides advanced id per lb. The best quality brought ,ijd per lb ; tallow, 20s per cwt. Sheepskins fully maintained their value ; good skins brought from 3s to 3s nd each. At Remuera on Thursday, dai.-y cattle w ere short of requirements, and not many store cattle offered. Fat cattle were in full supply . 155 sold. Jicst kuality maintained previous values, and those of a secondary class were considerably lower. Prices for ordinary cattle varied from 23s to 265 ; prime, 27s to 28s the ioolbs. Fat sheep were in average number, and lower than last week about 2s. Well-bred farmhousv pigs of moderate siie were at 3d the lb. live wuight, but heavy, coarse pigs were at very low values. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.— Horses : There has been an improvement in the market this week, and a large number have been disposed of. On Friday, over an average number were entered for auction. Bidding was spirited, and with few exceptions all in were cleared at satisfactory prices. There exists an ansatisfied demand for upstanding hacks and light-harness horses. Prices ranged o shade above last week's. — Cattle : The yards at Newmarket wore well represented, and really good cows fetched extreme prices. At Pukekohe, on Wednesday, store cattle were yarded in full numbers, and prices showed a slight upward tendency. Fat beasts were yarded >n average numbers on Tuesday. Bidding was brisk at from 26s to 30s the ioolbs. — Sheep; The yards were crammed on Tuesday. The demand was steady, and last weeks prices were maintained. Fat wethers sold at 13s 6d to 17s ; ewes, u>s 6d to 14s Qd. — Pigs : There was a large supply, and prices were a shade higher thun List week.
