The Abandonment of Afghanistan. London, June 7.
In the House of Commons, the Marquis of Hartington stated that they hoped to withdraw from Afghanistan in autumn, and that a separate Government would be created at Kandahar, without permanent occupation The Treaty ot Gundamak would be abrogated. Instructions have been sent to the Marquis of Ripon to retain or abandon the frontier positions according to circumstances.
