HARAPEPE. [OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Therk is at last some prospect of the Te Rore bridge being built, as the Government have called for tenders, which of course all the readers of the Times know, so it is no news my telling them. When it is built it will be a great benefit to this district, as the punt at the ferry is continually out of order ; and, since the Wai pa County Council have had the control of it, being out of order has been the rule instead of the exception, but we are now living in hopes of better things. The sale of the Pirongia land that there has been :3o: 3 o much talk about, and a good deal of underhand work during the Grey Ministry, seems to be about as far off as ever it was. Last summer a Government surveyor of the name of Stevens was sent up, and he made about a six months' job of it. Then another Government surveyor was sent up to check tliu survey, and. he found it all wrong. After some months' delay another surveyor (Mr F. Edgecumbe) was sent up, and he had to do all the first man's Avork over again. Certainly the Government pay well for all the work they have done. Some of the above land might have been sold years ago if it had been brought into the market, as there is some very good land amongst it.
