THE RESIDENT MAGISTRATE AND THE LARRIKINS.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir,— I see in an Auckland paper a letter signed "A Lover of Justice," written from Hamilton, referring to the late case of larrikinism, in which the writer attempts to cast mud all round on the Resident Magistrate and on the police. If there had been any wivng done, any injustice committed, why did "A Lover of Justice not make his complaint in the "Waikato Times ? The answer is plain ; because he has a down on the Resident Magistrate and Sergeant McGrovern, and knows well that his insinuations will not be regarded by Hamilton people, but hopes that on the piinciple that " mad. sticks" by throwing some at these officers through an outside newspaper, unfavorable ideas may be conveyed. — I am, &c, Hamilton Buegkss. [Doubtless Mr Northcroft and Sergeant McGovem will treat the anonymous remai'ks of " A Lover of Justice" with the contempt we do, and which they richly deserve. — Ed.]
