CAMBRIDGE R.M. COURT.
Friday 21st Mat, 1880. (Before H. W. Northcroft, Esq.) Margaret Lemon was charged with being drunk on the 7th inst. and fined £1 and coat £1 Is, or 48 hours imprisonment, Fine was paid. T Brown was charged by A G. Fretwell, with as-aulfcing him on the 14th inst. Mr Russell conducted the case for Brown, and Mr Beale for Fretwell. A counter charge was made by Brown against Fretwell for the same, and a third charge by Fretwell against Brown, for threatening and abusive language. Brown had a clothes line which he accused Fretwell of cutting, hence the three actions, the verdict of the Bench was that each should find two sureties of £25 each, and to keep the peace for six months. The civil cases were : — Bates v. Thompson, for £1 Os 6d ; same v. Brunton, £1 10s, judgment for plaintiff with costs ; Clark v. Stewart, for £1 l'2s od, paid out of Court, but judgment for costs (28s Gil) gi\ T en ; Bates v. Sttewait, for £2 3s Gil, judgment for plaintiff : defendant was ordered to pay os per week, or in default , two months' imprisonment ; McMillan v. Smith, claim £8 11s lid, costs £3, judgment for plaintiff.
