Theodore Martin's Life of the Prince Consort is now complete, and he has handed the proof sheets to the Queen. He is charged with the authorship ot a dramatic article in "Blackwood," which appreciates so little the merits of the Theatre Francaise that the French papers are up in arms, and hint that Martin's marriage to Helen Fauci t is not unconnected with his severity to other artists. We note by the London papers that Mr. Henry Irving's success in the "Merchant of Venice" still continues. The talented actor issued cards for Valentins's Day, when ho intended to entertain his guests in commemoration of the 100 th successive repi'esentations. of Shylods. Morning performances are given every Satur lay, and the box office uotice contains the information that "seats can be secured six weeks in advance." £1000 per week is stated as. the amount of Mr. Irvine's profit"
