THE VICTORIA - STREET MAN TRAP. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— As a meeting of the Coi\ncil takes place this ovening, I believe, to settle the 'much vexed question of the footpath in Victoria-street, will you permit me through your columns, to point out to that body the possibility of an accident occuriug at any moment. 1 was much astonished to find this work had not been done before after a lengthened absence from Hamilton. Besides beingdangerous, it is an eye-sore to passers by, depreciates the value of property in the neighbourhood, impedes traffic, and injures trade ; and, I do hope therefore, the Council will see its way to have it done forthwith on public grounds, and not regard irrelevant matters counected with a promise of councillor this or councillor that, a\ hich if made at all has nothing to do Avith tho matter, as the public have a right, which it is tho duty of tho Council to respect. — lam, &c, UvWHto-s
