A POLITICAL JOHN THE BAPTIST. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.] Auckland, Yesterday.
Seymour Geokoe, Esq., M.H.R., "mine uncle's nephew," arrived in Auckland from the Kawau on Friday last, *n route for the South, per first steamer. The purpose of his peregrinations is, it is thought, to make straight the way of the Knight of Kaw.au, and to smooth his paths in the South. Invercargill will be visited and Oamaru, which latter constituency will foe especially "interviewed,'' it being just now vacant owing to the resignation of Mr Hislop. I hear that the redoubtable W. L. Rees, of unsavory reputation, a\ ill be brought out in the interests of " the human race " as a candidate for this seat. It is hardly likely that Rangitikei will be honoied with a visit from either "my uncle" or " my nephew," it being stated, on private authority, that the veteran Knight, Sir William Fox, that dreadful temperance bore, is certain of success and will win in a canter.
