PLEURO-PNEUMONIA.

Public Meeting at Hamilton. The restrictions imposed by the South Auckland Cattle Board are very naturally felt to be most irksome by a large number of cattle -owners in different parts of the district where the cattle are as yet clean and free from disease. In the town of Hamilton, for instance, theve are a large number of owners of from one to ten or twenty head of cattle who have eujoyed the privilege of the town belt, public reserves, and waste lands whereon to graze their cattle, and who are now driven to the necessity of confining these cattle to small paddocks, where, in consequence of the long drought, there is little or no feed — in many .jases literally none whatever — and where even the water kas to be carried to the cattle, for without a permit tbey cannot be driven even once a day to the river. In one case we heard of cattle being more than two days without water, the inspector being away and a permit not obtainable in his absence. In another instance, in East Hamilton also, we have heard of a poor woman who has declared that sooner than see her cattle die of starvation, as they are doing,' she will have them killed, sales being impossible to effect. We are not, therefore, surprised to find that a meeting of the inhabitants has been oalled for to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, by His Worship the Mayor, at the Borough Council Chambers, Hamilton, to consider the present position of affairs as regards the cattle restrictions.
