ALEXANDRA, Last Night.

Some little disappointment was felt here last niglit owing to breach of engagement on the part of the Messrs. Baker, who were expected to assist our local amateurs at a concert in aid of the Band Fund. The affair, however, passed off most satisfactorily with the assistance of the Te Awamutu Band, who kindly attended. At the Assessment Court here to-day, before H. W. Northcroft, Esq., R.M., one objection was lodged, but the objector (J. H. Edwards) not being present, was struck out. A perepatetic son of toil, who had helped himself to 20s from the till of Kirkwoods Exchange Hotel, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to one week's imprisonment.
