OUTBREAK OF PLEURO-PNEU-MONIA.
Inspector Runciman, accompanied by Mr Naden, M.R.C.V.S.L., proceeded to Te Awamutu on Tuesday morning, and examined the herd of cattle belonging to Mr Duncan Macniccol. Twenty-seven head ' were mustered, and amongst them were five which had been purchased from the Swamp Company. Mr Naden is of opinion that several of those he saw are affected with Pleuro, but desires to see them again before giving a decided opinion, and permission will be obtained from the Cattle Board to slaughter a beast if necessary for post mortem purposes. Mr Naden also visited Mr Richard Burkes farm at Paterangi, near Te Awamutu, there examined twentytwo cows, one bull, and two calves, several of which were suffering from epizootic Pleuro-pneumonia ; notice was immediately served upon Mr Burke by Inspector Runciman.
