MR. SEDDON'S CLAIM.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I am rather surprised, and can scarcely imagine it to be tme, that the Borough Council contemplate giving Mr Seddon £375 damages, or so much money for the allotment in question. If Seddon advanced money to that am,oui}t on it, independent of the engine and boiler &c, which has since been removed to Te Awamutu, lie is more liberal in his advances than he generally gets credit for. The allotment in question (not an acre) would never have fetched more than fifty pounds after the boiler, engine, &c, over which Mr Seddon had security, were removed. If the report approaches anywhere near the truth, I would suggest the advisability or propriety of the Borough Council calling a public meeting of the Burgesses to express an opinion on the matter before sanctioning or entertaining (in my opinion) such an iniquitous claim.— lam, &c, . Chocolate. [Qur correspondent has written somewhat late, the claim having been determined by the purchase of the allotment for £375.— Ed.
