Waikato Times Office, Friday Evening. "Waikato Cattle Market.— J. S. Buckland reports: — At the Ohaupo live stock sale on Tuesday, 23rd March, there were a large number well-bred cattle yarded, and a numerous attendance of buyers. 231 head of cattle were yarded and all sold with the exception of 31 ; prices ruled about 5s or 7s 6d a head less than late quotations. 381 sheep were penned, and sold at fair values ; fat ewes brought 10s 6d ; store ewe hoggets and lambs, 6s each.— At the sale of Mr L. B. Harris's live stock and implements, held at Harrisville on Tuesday last, there was a larger attendance of buyers than was expected owing to the Cavalry being at the Thames. The cattle and sheep sold at high values, but the implements irere dull of sale and realised low prices. Dry cows brought from L 3 15s to Ls ; cows giving milk and in calf, L$ 10s to L8 17s 6d ; yearling steers, £3 $s ; heifers, L 2 15s ; suckers, 30s and 27s 6d each ; the ewes, 8s 3d, and lambs, 7s each. Two light mares and foals brought respectively L 6 and Ll5 each ; pair of small aged ponies, Lio ; light riding horse, L8 ; unbroken 2-year-old colt, L 9. There was no offer for the hay and straw, and all the oats were sold at 2s the bushel. Auckland Cattle Market.— Mr Alfred Buckland'* Weekly Report.— At the Haymarket, on Friday last, a good deal of inferior hay sold from is Od to 2s, good quality 3s to 4s per cwt.; East Coast rye grass, 3s to 3s lod per bushel; oats, 2s; damaged wheat, 3s 211 per bushel; sharps, 4s 6d to 4s gd; bran, 4s gd per cwt.; light liameib and medium draught horses from £id to £27; heavy draught, fai to £\o. On Tuesday,

the hides offered were all more or less damaged, and brought from id to 2-jd per lb.; locks, 3d to 4jdj wool, in grease, 7^d to 8d per lb. At Papukura, on Wednesday, 130 head cattle of all classes were yarded. Bidding was pood throughout the sale, and every lot sold. Cal\ es brought trom 255. to 455: dry co\\s, £3 T2S 6d; steers, £3 7s 6d to £4 10s each; fat cattle, 25s per loolbs. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows wore more numerous than for several weoks and better worth fully 20s per head. Fat cattle in full number ; 160 head ot better quality than usual were sold. Prices for best quality were lower th.in last week, but regular, and brought near 255; inferior from 18s per loolbs. Sheep were also in full number. About 1000 yarded, the greater part well fatted. Prices weie slighty higher than last week, but lambs barely maintained last week's values. Store sheep were in demand, at prices which left no margin with present prices of fat shopp. Pigs were in moderate supply, and good inquiry. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report. — Horses — The holidays materially interfered with business, and a very limited number changed hands. At the Durham Yards, on Saturday, but an average number were entered for disposal by auction. Bidding was slow, and a few lots remained unsold. We quote: Hacks, £5 10s to £13 17s 6d; light harnosi horses from £12 10s to 2,i0 15s; medium draught, £33. Cattle— The supply during the week has been a tolerable one, and the demand steady. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, dairy and store stock were in limited numbers, but there was a full supply of fat beasts. Dairp cows, at their profit, are in request at satisfactory prices. Stores unaltered in value. There was an upward tendency in the price for provincial stock; but the ship-bourne, although of very good quality, were relatively lower, but there was no noteworthy alteration in value as compared with last week. Sheep — A very large number h.ive been brought forward, but the demand has deen brisk. Fat wethers have ranged from 13s to 17s; a pen of mixed sexes reached the latter sum. Ewes sold from 12s to i6s. Lambs plentiful, and sold at from 7s to 12s gd. Pigs very scarce; Quotations nominal. Hides and Skins— On Tuesday the demand was steady, and there was little alteration in value, although the highest prices reached for hides was 3d per lb.; skins, 2s od each.
