AUCKLAND, Last Night.
THE £65,000 VOTE FOR AUCKLAND. The Hon. Mr Hall has authorised £30,000 out of the £65,000 voted for the North of Auckland to be expended immediately on the main road to the North ; a portion of remainder to be divided amongst Counties and Highway Boards, and the rest retained to be expended at the discretion of the Hon. Mr Whitaker. The Hon. Mr Rolleston leaves for the Thames this evening, proceeding on from there overland to Katikati and Tauranga. St. Patrick's day sports. At the Hibernian Society's sports, the Maiden Race was won by J. Bradley ; S. Fairweather, 2. Putting the Stone :T. O'Connor, 1 ; B. Crowin, 2. St. Patrick's Day Handicap : T. Holly, 1 ; T. O'Connor, 2. Grinning Through Horse-collar : Micky O'Donoghue. The Tamaki Races were well attended. Hurdle Race : Harry Mount, 1 ; Sportsman, 2 ; Jonathan Wild, 3. Maiden Plate : Kenilworth, 1 ; Gilderoy, 2 ; Sorcerer, 3. Hurdle Race Handicap Novel Race : Glenfern, 1 ; Maid of Athol, 2 ; Sybil, 3. East Tamaki Handicap : Malvern, 1 ; Yatapa, 2 ; Lallah Rookh, 3 ; Sorcerer bolted.
