DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING AT TE AWAMUTU.
There was a somewhat full turn out at the butts on Wednesday, of the Te Awamutu troop of Waikato Cavalry. The weather was anything but favourable, a steady rain falling, with slight sqalls. The firing of some, it will be seen, was good Trooper Macfaiiane having made top score with 58. The amount given by the Government to be fired for by nearly 200 men, was £17 10s, and the officers have had pretty hard work to divide it oat into a sufficient number of prizes.
Thus it will be seen that the prizes are pretty equally divided amongst the three corps, but the Te Awamutu troop carries off first prize.
