PLEURO - PNEUMONIA. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— From the different accounts I have lately seen, pleuro seems to be an established fact in this province, and as few men have seen more of it in all its btages since its first outbreak in Australia, I venture, with your permission, to suggest to cattle proprietors the great success in combating the disease obtained through inoculation. 1 am perfectly aware that many V.S's don't hold with inoculation as a preventative, but I prefer the theory of seeing is belief ; for instance, plenro bro c out on the Upper Lachlin ; two stations were badly infected— Con - doblin Station, the property of Mr Street*; Kiacatoo Station, the property of Mes'.rh Lane. On both those stations the cattle were droping off in scores. Joining those two stations was the station of Mr Cousin, where there only appeared nn i ol.ited e..se or two, owing' to his c.ittle being inoculated. As the increase were

cut and branded he only lost an odd beast that escaped the operation or bad not the virus property applied. At the time this took place x had every opportunity of seeing for myself, being purchasing the fat cattle on those stations for five years. I will mention another case that I was particularly identified with, namely, I purchased 900 bullocks from the herd of the late Mr R. Town, on the Burdii. in River, Queensland no th, for Messrs Parker, fat and sound when started. Nearly five months after starting, when on the Warego, they commenced to die ; finding one or two dead on camp in the morning, and obliged to leave one or two during the days stage. This continued till it reached from eight to 1 0 on camp, when I got the use of a yard ; put up a crush, uud inoculated 670 nead, the balance having died. I lost comparatively few after— those that were too far gone— and by the time I reached Wilcania, on the Lower Darling, I had no deaths or ditease, and delivered 623. The above facts I can prove, and could mention many more. I strongly recommend inoculation. — I am, &c, H. Kelly.
