TAMAHERE HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
A. meeting of the Tanvihere Trustees was held yesterday afternoon in the Waikato County Council Chambers, East Hamilton. Present: H Reynolds, Esq., and Messrs. P. Leslie, C. 0. Wood and Captain Runciman. The minutes of the preceding meeting having been read and confirmed, a letter was read from J. B. Whyte, Esq, M.H R., stating that he had applied for £300 from the Government for the Board, which he believed would be grantted. A request from Mr Tinne for permission to swing gates across a road passing through his property, was agreed to, subject to counter order by the Board. It was agreed to expend £50 on the Victoria road, in repairing some 1J chains at the northern end of the road, and Capt. Kunciman was authorised to carry i out the necessary works. ! Capt. Runcimau reported that the culI vert near Tinne' s had been completed. The following tenders for the erection of a bridge, cutting drain, and formation of road, were then opened and read: — Albert Potter, building bridge, £16 ; draining and road formation, los per chain. Wra. Proctor, informal. Thomas Manders and Sons, bridge, £15. Maulkellow and Talbot, bridge, £-5 ; Is per yard approaches ; and 15^ 6d per chain draining and forming. Michael Hannon and Co., draining and forming, 22s per chain. Henry McPherson, draining and forming, 29a lid per chain; bridge, £14 18s ; approaches, 9W per yard. Bolton, draining and forming, 26s per chain. Benj. Young and Co., draining and forming, 23s per chain ; bridge, £12 10s. It was resolved to accept the tender of Mantkellow and Talbot for the bridge provided they paid the deposit of £5, and that of Mr Potter, for the draining and forming, on the same condition, but failing this, that the tender of Young and Ca M for the bridge, be accepted, and fresh tenders be called for the cutting drains and forming road. The following account WBS received from James Coombe 3 for woi'k peformed : £64 08 lid, lass £20 received. Exception was taken to the charge for filling, £33 ; and it was resolved to pay a further £20 on account, and examine into the work said to have been done in filling the holes on road. The Secretary stated that the debit balance at the bank was £62 os 2d. This concluded the business.
