TE AWAMUTU EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.
TO THE EDITOR Sir,— I am not fond of rushing into print on all occasions, but when I see wilful mis-statements, I think it is the duty of someone to contradict them. Your correspondent "A Lover of Justice" says that the Chairman of the meeting prevented the nomination of a Committee. How this could be when 17 out of a meeting of 24 voted m favour of the Commissioners, and against the nomination of a Committee, I think this " Lover of Justice" should explain. It is a wretched state of things when a respectable man cannot interest himself m public meetings or exert himself for the public good, without having his name dragged through the mire by some envious or spiteful detractor. Your correspondent forgets to mention that of the 7 names mentioned for a Committee 3 refused to act, and that he would have found great difficulty m finding 7 men of any description who would have agreed to act. — I am, &c. A Lover of Peace.
