Tn days of old folks sung the lajs Of battles fought and warlike tr.ij >■ ; My thunjo i.s one ot modern tl.i\ .s. In the Hamilton Borough Council. And as. for nerves, I dccliiro No champion of old could over scare As well as. one we well could spare From the Hamilton Boiough Count il, They thought they found'a, marvellous plot To work him out by making it " hot;" But he slipt through the hole and still they've got " Our friend" in the Borough Council. He stirs up strife before they meet, And with abu.se each other greet, And epithets both choice and sweet. Are heard in the Borough Council. While thus they differ on c\ cry theme Time passes away like a troubled dream, And public credit and business scheme Are forgot in the Borough Council. If ambitious might is gaining fame, Our Councillors have a wondrous name For casting ridicule, sneers, and shame, Op the Hamilton Borough Council. Until friend:) and fons alike unite Jn thinking and saying-, '* It \yill serve them right Jf respectably householders think ft rjjjht To <f blackball the Borough Council."
