T. S. liutkland reports —At Oh.iupo live stock saie on Thursday last, 18} head of cattle ot different classes were yarded. Cows were a shade lower in value, but cahes and yearlings maintained late prices, and are enquired for. A pen of half-bred, 15 months old, Hereford steers, and a pen of two year olds of ihe same class, brought respectively £4 15s. and £6 each. The 70 steers from Tauranga were a very choice lot, and 35 of them being go»d quality beef were reserved, and forwarded to the Auckland market; the balance brought from £y 7s 6d to £y 7s 6d each. 22s sheep were penned and only 2^ withdrawn, prices realised were half-bred whethers, 8s 6d; aged ewes, 4s. to 5s ; tooth owes, 7s 6d ; lambs ss. each. A larger number of horses than usual were entered, and 1} were sold at prices ranging rom £2 5s to £21 each. At JlessrsJ. andW. Martyns sale at Penc.inow, on Wednesday last, all the stock ad\erised with the exception of a few horses, were sold at satisfactory prices. There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk throughout the sale, especially for the cattle, which were keenly competed for, and 205 head were sold at the following prices: —Weaned calves, £2 15 ; twelve to fifteen months old heifers and steers, £t, 7s 6d to £4 10s ; eighteen months to tv\o year old steers, £4 15s to £$ i,s ; empty cows, £4 to £6 ss each. All the sheep were sold, and the prices realised were for whether lambs, 4s 6d; ewe lambs, 6s ; Wether hoggets, 8s od ana gs; cvvehoggets, 10s 3d; full mouthed ew es, 6s to 7s ;,d eat h. The horses sold were principally medium draught colts, suitable for plough, and brought £11 10s to £14; light buggy mare, £17 ; medium draught mare, £23 ; and a pair of grej c olts, £25 each. Auckl\mj Caitii: ll\RKhi. —Mr Alfred P.ut kland's Weekly Report. —At the Ha>marke on Friday last, hay and straw was offered in less than usual quantity, and was better worth. A large supply of local oats met a ready sale at from 2s id to 2s 3d the bushel; Cape barley, 2s 3d Horse stock were in usual numbers: hacks, from T-S to Lio; medium draught, from Ll3 to L 26. Hides and skins were in less number on Tuesday last, but at good value : hides, 3^d the lb.; skins, from is 3d to 3s 8d each ; tallow, 24s to 2^s the cwt.; wool, in the grease, from 7^d to 84d the lb. At Papakuru, on Wednesday, there was the usual abundance of buyers, and a larger amount of cattle than for several weeks. Prices were fairly sustained. At Remuera, on Thursday, not many dairy or store cattle w ere yarded. Fat cattle were in full number; 176 head penned. Prices lower than hitherto, from is to 2s the loolbs. Good heifers and steers ranged from 22s to 255; aged eovvs, from 17s ; ship-borne oxen, 18s to 22s the loolbs. Fat sheep were also in larger supply than average, but kept their values. Good wethers were steady at fully 2d the lb. Lambs were plentiful, and ranged ;from 5s to us each. Porkers of good quality ranged frrnm 25s to 30s * Hunter and Nolans weekly reportHorses.—Thcro has been a tolerable supply and hteady demand, and not much alteration in value; r.n average number was submitted by auction at the Durham Yards, on Friday, ahd were almost, without exception, at prices satisfactory to vendors, (although there vyas no noteworthy alterations as compared with the previous week —- Dulncs* has characterised the demand for fat beasts, but other descriptions maintaind their value. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, above the nsnal number were yarded, dairy stock were fairly represented and competed tor. Stores
