LINES TO PIRONGIA.

Pirongia, Pirongia, oh what a pretty view, How queenly are thy lofty peaks, And charming- woodlands too. Behind thee ebbs the restless sea, In front 1 c Rori lies, While all aioand, rich crops abound, To gladden the settler's eye:>. And 'neatb the shade of thy tall green trees, The little flowrets grow, While at thy feet the nppling waves Of the river Waipa flows. O'er thee fly the little birds with song so clear and free ; They seem to sini* while on the wing, Sweet praises meant for thee.

—Evelli n S. Dillon, Aged 10 years.
