PLEURO-PNEUMONIA.

Wis fear that there is too much causa to believe that the dreadful disease of PleuroPneumonia, in its worst form, haa made ita appearance in this provincial district. We have not space to-day to expatiate ou the terrible danger— if this . hould prove the case — looming in tbe di&tance for stock-breeders, bat will cuter more fully into the subject next issue, 3he Cambridge Farmer's Club passed a i evolution at its last meeting urging the Government to appoint a duly qualified inspector to inspect all imported stock : to this -we believe the Government have vouchsafed no reply. We would suggest that every member of the Cambridge farmer's Club ahould attend the meeting to be held on Monday ; and that the Club make overtures to the Auckland Agricultural Society, to co-operate in urging ou Government the absolute necessity of taangiustant means to stamp out the disease. There is a lot of cattle now on the way from Sydney, and may be txpected any day : we would btrongly recommend the authorities not to permit their landing without being quarantined* In the meantime the following correspondence appearing in yesterday's Herald should be read with careful attention by Waikato stock-breeders and settlers generally.

TO THE EDITOE. Sh 1 , — Enclosed herewith Is a note from Mr E lward B Kinloch, V.S , relative to the examination of a cow owned by us, purcha-ed from the short-horn herd lately imported by Mr Payne ; and as we have lost the young bull (her son) from, so far as we are able to judge, the same aise^e, it really proves the necessity of the Government attending- to Mr Fanthams remarks in a lute communication to your- | selves. In justice to Mr Kinloch, if you , remember, he strenuously advised quarantine lonsr ago in your columns, and states to us that any inspection is absolutely useless without it. Trusting that you will fjn.d roqra for both ihese communications, and that they will al-o appear in your weekly paper for the inform xtion of f-u-iners and others interested,— We are, leeland Bros., Panmure.

"Tbwadap moroiug, February l-stb,
