Auckland Cattle Market.—Mr Alfrtd Buckland's Weekly Report. At the Haymarket on Friday, February 6th, fodder brought from as. od. to 3s gd the cwt; Poverty Bay rye grass, 2S gd ; oats, 2S 3d; maize, 3s +d the bushel. Medium draught horse stock, £13 10s to £29 ; riding horses from £2 to £19. No heavy draught offered. At Waiuku, on Saturday, there was a good muster of cattle. For young stock, steady competition, but for grown cattle, scarcely an enquiry. At the Sheep Fair, on Monday, the rams offered were generally of good quality, but in excess of requirement. The aged English sheep brought from £6 to £\o, and about 50 of the best of the others from £2 to £4, but the greater number offered sold from 8s to 20s each. Scarcely any lambs were offered, and those were at low values, 6s to 75 each for long-wooled lambs of good quality. The ewes were in less number than required, and a much larger number would have been sold, without alteration in their values. Prices ruled very similar to those obtained last year, and varied from 6s to 13s 6d each, with the exception of a pen of pure Lincoln hoggets, which brought 35s each. The imported rams sold at the Haymarket, on Tuesday, brought together the principal sheep-breeders in the province. All the sheep were of good quality, and, for the favourites, there was keen competition. The prices realised were, 76,55. 34. 3*. and 25 guineas respectively. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were at higher values. Store cattle also iold more freely, and were slightly better worth than last week. Fat cattle were in full numbers ; 750 head yarded. Last week's prices were scarcely sustained. Inferiorly fatted cattle were bought by the graziore ; well-fatted steers 5s each lower. Prices ranged from 18s to 23s for cows, to 25s for good steers, the greater number bringing 24s the loolbs. Sheep, in average supply; prices from xjd to 26. per lb.; lambs of good quality, 8s to 10s each, but many were in low condition, and sold at 5s each. Few pigs yarded, and those were in brisk inquiry. Messrs Hunter and Nolans weekly report.— Horses: A moderate degree of activity has characterised the market; the supply has been adequate, and sales have been more satisfactory to vendors than for some time. Above an average number were entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was steady throughout, and almost without exception reserves were reached. We quote hacks £\ to £13 ss; light harness horses, from £15 15s to£z6 10s; draught, £33. Cattle. —The supply has been good, and a corresponding demand has existed. Above an average number were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, and the Pukekohe Yards were completely filled on Wednesday. Stores receded a little in value, but dairy and fat stock fully maintained late quotations, particularly light weights well fatted. A small draft from the Waikare farm reflected credit on the feeder, and were keenly competed for. 1 Sheep. —The number catalogued for the fair on Tuesday was very limited, and of these the majority were of inferior description. Ewes sold at from 5s to 12s ; ewe hoggets from 9s to 10s 6d ; ewe lambs from 4s to 8s; rams from 17s to 355. There was a large number yarded for the butcher at the regular sale. The demand was steady throughout, and last week's prices were given. Lambs wore plentiful, and sold at from 7s 3d pigs. —A limited number were yarded, but some good porkers elicited keen competition.
