BOROUGH MATTERS.

Sir,— l pee by your report of the last meeting- of the Borough Council, that a manifest id justice has been done to Hamilton East, in the election of a West Hamilton Or., who has been accused publicly of making something contrary to law, out of the position in which he had been placed by the burp-esses, without eliciting any denial. Even if not unfair to the East side, four at/ainst two on the Work's Committee, ?ood taste on his part ought to have lequire^ a great deal of pressure, instead of apparently working the oracle to get on the Work's Committee for motives best known to himself. If the West side wishes to evince a spirit of fair-play they will allow the Fast side to elecf- a Cr. in place of Mr. Harris. There may be, but I scarcely think so, a few unscrupulous burgesses who with a vitiated idea of right and wrong, might try to arrange things differently ; but heretofore the time has been that either Bide, had they chosen, might then had things their own way, but wisely and from a sense o' justice refrained from doing so. Water off a duck's back is nowhere in comparison to how things glide of some people. For instance, choice epithets were given and taken, so I have been informed at last meeting of the Borough Council. Less talk and more work would be beneficial. — I am, &c, CIIAINBAE.
