IMPORTED PURE- BRED SHEEP.
At the sale of Pure-bred Lincoln rams, hold by Mr Alfred Buckland at the Hayniai'ket on Tuesday, there was a largo attendance, and among 1 the principal sheep breeders present were Messrs, J. A. Douglas (of Tamahere, Cambridge), E. B. Walker (Waikato), MacNicol (Waikato), Jofacph May, and R. Maclean. The prices realised were — having regard to the fall in sheep— good. The celebrated ram M.P., bred by John W. Kirkham, Esq., of Lincolnshire, imported by Mr Newman, was purchased by J. A. Douglas, Esq., of Tamahere, near Cambridge, for 76 guineas. There was a keen competition for this ram. His hire, "The hundred guinea ram," which was shipped to New Zealand by Thomas Russell, Esq., C.M.G-., is the property of the Messrs. Maclean. The Waikato is to be congratulated on the acquisition of this valuable strain, and we heartily wish Mr Douglas the success which his exemplary enterprise merits.
