COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. Waikato Times Office, Wednesday.
bockland's sheep fair. The following: are the full particulars of Mr Buckland's annual sheep fair held on Monday, a telegraphic resume of which appeared in the Waikato Times of Tuesday :— This was the smallest show known for some years. Several reasons are urged in explanation. In the first place there has for some time past been a manifest desire to get out of sheep and take to stock-raising. Then the scab scare prevails to an unreasonable extent, perhaps on account of the rigid manner in which the provisions of the Scab Act are enforced. The low price of wool ruling for some time has also had its effect, creating on the one side a want of desire on the part of the buyer, while the seller is unwilling to sacrifice at low prices. There was a fair attendance at Monday's sale, but prices ruled low. The following is the result of the sale : — Ewes and Lamijs. — 30 two-tooth wethers, J.
