THE ODDFELLOWS' BALL.

There was a general gathering from all parts of the district last night at the ball held to commemorate the openjßg..- of the new Hall built for the Oddfellows' at East Hamilton. The Hall, which is a large and handsome building-— to which we shall more particularly refer in our next— is some 86ft. x 33ft., was tastefullydecorated under the superintendence of Mrs Field. Large punga feifees were placed on either side the doorway entrance, forming a graceful arch, and in the comers of the building. A space of about 14ft. by the width of the building was portioned off as a supper room, and a capital spread was laid out by Mv .Black of East Hamilton, to which ample justice was done by the guests. The orchestra, which was represented by Mr M'Cormish and Messrs Impey and "Wilson from Auckland, occupied a raised dais at tho head of tho room. Tho body o| tlis

hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flowers, with mottoes emblomatical of the Order, and with the regalia of the Constitution. Dancing commenced at 9 p.m., and to the excellent music of the band was kept up to a late hour this morning. The whole affair was a great success, and reflects most creditably on the committee appointed by the Lodge to 'carry out the arrangements.
